Actually Josh as Josh said he recalls around 5-7% CPU load from the 
switcher which is invoked by 3ddesk both initially and then again 
whenever accessing it to change desktops.  Once it's launched on my 
system top shows 2.3-4.7% processor load.  That would make a 3GHz system 
feel like a 2.895 which would probably be an imperceptible difference, 
though the loss is totally gratuitous.  Memory is an equally scant 3% 
likewise reducing 1GB to 970MB.   Still, gratuitous...
