Shouldn't be any problem with the ISA, just set the com/irq port and
go, make sure it is one that your motherboard serial ports aren't using
and even simpler, if your not using the motherboard serial ports, to
disable them to avoid a conflict. The PCI modem is a different story,
if it is a hardware modem, your in luck, as the modem will assign
itself a com port (no jumpers involved), but if it's software modem,
you can probably forget using that one, I have never seen/heard anyone
getting a USR software modem to work in Linux, and I work with ALOT of
modems. After you get whatever modem installed and not conflicting, the
easiest way to get it going is with kppp, fire it up at a command
prompt, go to the device section and query the modem. Here is a
standard set : COM1=/dev/ttyS0, COM2=/dev/ttyS1, etc.....<br>
SUSE may make a symbolic link for you on the fly, where it will be
linked to /dev/modem. Hope this helps ya.<br>
