I usually plugins manually, for anything, be it for flash, java,
codecs, whatever.<br>
For icons on the Gnome desktop, I all my own and select the icons based
on pixel size, usually 48x48, you can find them in folders named as
such. If you want to adjust an icon already there, you can right click
on it and select "stretch icon". That's a bit misleading because you
can also shrink it with this, it will select the icon and you can move
the corners to either make it bigger or smaller. Another thing about
desktop icons in Gnome, if you vi the icon located in your
~/.gnome-desktop folder, you can add the line
"StartupWMClass=whatever-splash" , this will enable the startup
notification for the app started by the icon, by spinning an hour glass
and putting a pre-startup notification in your taskbar. It is usefull
for the impatient using slow startup apps like Open Office. The
whatever part is whatever you want to call it, doesn't really matter.<br>

I agree with you . I have problems too. I think its buggy. Although I like the fact that mplayer comes installed and Mozilla are updated. Plugins should be are still not easier to install in Linux. I think that needs to be worked on. I noticed Xandros uses galeon as default and not mozilla. My question too is there a way to adjust the icon sizes on the gnome desktop. They are just way too big and goofy looking.

btw, I am using the Ximian desktop too. Has way too many issues with
nautilus, etc. for me. I would go back to regular Gnome in a heartbeat
but there is no immediate recourse. I plan on redoing this box shortly
again, been waiting for the new release of Fedora.
