Hello Mike,
<BR>
Those commands, fdisk, cfdisk, etc. are commands that require you to be root or have root privileges, however, you do not need to be root to just access the drive or drive's media later, unless it has been setup that way (in the /etc/fstab file). Can you look in your /var/log/messages file and see what designation the zip drive has? i.e. hd? or sd?

<FONT COLOR="#737373"><FONT SIZE="3"><I>also to use /dev/scd0, check to see if you have something like hdd=ide-scsi in your boot config, check your /etc/lilo.conf file, I add that all the time, then tell whatever my ide cd-rom drive is, that it is /dev/scd0, this is a nice workaround as Linux seems to work much better with scsi emulation and the supermount command lines in /etc/fstab don't have a problem with xmms then, it is a pretty neat little work around </FONT></FONT></I>
